Southern U.S. Hotspots for Severe Consequences of Flash Floods
Dr. Wanyun Shao, assistant professor of geography, helped map hotspots for flash floods in the United States. The study found poor socio-economic indicators in the Southern half of the U.S. affects the region’s response to flash flood events.

Matthew LaFevor
Distinguished Teaching Fellow 2021-2024 Matthew C. LaFevor is an assistant professor in the Department of Geography. His research explores agriculture, conservation, and environmental management in Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America. He regularly teaches courses in World Regional Geography, Environment & Society, Geography of Latin America, and Research Methods & Traditions in Geography. UA Researchers Helping Imperiled Freshwater Mussels
