Rising Impact

Dr. Rebecca Totten, associate professor in the department of geological sciences, is part of an international team that discovered the start of the “Doomsday Glacier’s” recent retreat.

Exploring Hidden Depths

Dr. Hazel Barton, the Loper Endowed professor of geological sciences at The University of Alabama and her team have been attempting to understand how life lives in the dark and isolated environments of the Wind Cave.


Dr. Juanjo Ponce Vazquez, associate professor in the Department of History, has played a pivotal role in the new six-part documentary series “Conquistadors: The Rise and Fall,” which premiered recently on National Geographic TV. Vazquez not only served as a consultant for the series but also appears in all six episodes.
