Southern U.S. Hotspots for Severe Consequences of Flash Floods
Dr. Wanyun Shao, assistant professor of geography, helped map hotspots for flash floods in the United States. The study found poor socio-economic indicators in the Southern half of the U.S. affects the region’s response to flash flood events.

UA Professor Training Psychologists to Combat Opioid Crisis in Rural Areas
Funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration, the three-year project will give students hands-on training in identifying those who need opioid treatment, creating treatment plans specific to each patient, and treating patients directly.
