The University of Alabama’s choral arts program offers a range of ensembles, ensuring there is a group for every individual who enjoys singing. Whether you are looking for a 1-credit or 0-credit option, UA’s ensembles accommodate undergraduates, graduates, music majors and non-music majors alike. By joining these ensembles, students become part of a close-knit community of musicians who share their love for choral music. Explore the exceptional choral arts offerings at UA and the different ways you can get involved: 

University Chorus: One of the prize ensembles at UA is the University Chorus, which welcomes all students, regardless of major. Led by experienced choral directors, this chorus performs a diverse range of challenging music from various periods and cultures. Rehearsals focus on vocal technique, ensemble listening skills, musical interpretation and expressive communication.  

University Singers: For those seeking an advanced choral experience, the University Singers is the perfect fit. Comprising of music majors and choral enthusiasts from different academic disciplines, this esteemed ensemble showcases a diverse repertoire spanning contemporary compositions, spirituals, world music and timeless masterpieces. Rehearsals for University Singers take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, providing dedicated time for members to refine their vocal skills and musicality. 

Treble Chorus: The Treble Chorus offers an inclusive space for sopranos and altos of all experience levels, regardless of their major. Singers in this ensemble have the opportunity to perform multiple concerts each semester in the Moody Concert Hall, as well as at community events on and off campus. The collaborative rehearsal process and wide variety of repertoire enable members to enhance their vocal technique and develop strong musicianship skills.  

Tenor Bass Chorus: Open to both tenors and basses of all experience levels, the Tenor Bass Chorus invites singers from diverse backgrounds and majors to come together and explore a broad range of musical genres. This non-auditioned ensemble performs regularly at the Moody Concert Hall and in community events, engaging with traditional choral pieces, barbershop, jazz, gospel and more. The Tenor Bass Chorus provides a nurturing environment for singers to refine their vocal techniques and deepen their understanding of music.
