The Department of Theatre and Dance is thrilled to welcome Eldar Aliev, Ballet Artistic Director of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre in Russia, from February 5 – 11.
Aliev, a former principal dancer and honored artistic creator of Russia, is widely recognized for his exceptional contributions to the dance world. He has performed on prestigious stages such as the Kennedy Center and the Metropolitan Opera, worked with renowned choreographers, and served as a guest consultant, coach, ballet master and choreographer for leading companies and academies worldwide.
During his visit to the University, Aliev will work with students to restage a work for ARDT and teach Masterclasses. The collaboration will take the stage at ARDT’s spring production from March 1 – 4.
In 2015, Aliev was appointed Artistic Director of Ballet at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre and has been awarded several honors for his contributions to the development of dance. Aliev will present Experience Running A Ballet Company In The US And At The Mariinsky Theatre at a public convocation on Tuesday, February 7 from 5:45 – 6:45 p.m. at the Dance Theatre.
