Nestled along the banks of the Black Warrior River, Moundville Archaeological Park hosts its annual Birdfest on April 29, 2023. As a member of the West Alabama Birding Trail, Moundville Archaeological Park is hosting a bird walk with one of the park’s volunteers, Dwight Lammon, at 9 am.

Paleontology Show and Tell

Discover the wonders of what paleontology is and what types of tools they use to uncover different type of fossils! Participants in Grades 1-3 will have a show and tell experience with real life fossils and equipment and dress up as a paleontologist. This program is free with museum admission. Fossil Excursion

Museum Fossil Excursion Day Trips travel to the Black Belt of Alabama in search of vertebrate and invertebrate fossils from the Cretaceous Age. Participants of all ages should be prepared to get wet and muddy as we wade through shallow streams to collect shark teeth and other marine fossils from streambed gravel deposits.
