Outstanding Sophomore and Junior Awards

Each semester, the Leadership Board of the College of Arts and Sciences recognizes students who have excelled on campus through their Outstanding Sophomore and Outstanding Junior Awards. In making its annual selections, the committee will look at the applicant’s extraordinary character and maturity, leadership, well-rounded experiences including strong academic performance and involvement in curricular and co-curricular activities.

There are typically multiple recipients of these awards. The total amount awarded per recipient may range between $1,000 and $2,000 total.

Award Criteria

Outstanding Sophomore Award Criteria

  • Must have completed 31-60 UA hours.
  • Must have 3.5 or higher cumulative UA GPA
  • Must be enrolled full time as an on-campus student pursuing first bachelor’s degree in the College of Arts and Sciences

Outstanding Junior Award Criteria

  • Must have completed 61-90 UA hours
  • Must have 3.5 or higher cumulative UA GPA
  • Must be enrolled full time as an on-campus student pursuing first bachelor’s degree in the College of Arts and Sciences

Application Requirements

In addition to meeting the qualifications for the award, applicants must submit the following in a combined PDF through the application portal:

  • An original 350-word essay answering this question:
    • Explain the importance of your major in today’s society. What are the most important / critical challenges facing your career choice today?
  • Resume including student name, CWID, and crimson email address

Deadline

The deadline to submit an application is Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.
