BOOK TALK – Dr. Isabela Morales

September 29, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Dr. Isabela Morales, a UA alum (Departments of History and American Studies), is speaking on her groundbreaking first book, Happy Dreams of Liberty: An American Family in Slavery and Freedom (OUP, 2022).

Dr. Morales got her PhD from Princeton University. She began the research for her book while an undergrad at UA in the History Department’s Capstone Research Seminar. She did additional research as a McNair Scholar at UA in 2011, supervised by Dr. Jenny Shaw in the History Department. Key materials that form the research on which the book is based are held in Hoole Special Collections Library – these are the records that Dr. Morales first encountered as an undergraduate. We want to publicize this talk and emphasize the excellent work being done by UA graduates in all fields.

Dr. Morales is Project Manager for the Princeton & Slavery Project, and is also the Digital Project Manager for the Stoutsberg Sourland African American History Museum in NJ.
