Outstanding Sophomore and Junior Awards

Each semester, the Leadership Board of the College of Arts and Sciences recognizes students who have excelled on campus through their Outstanding Sophomore and Outstanding Junior Awards. In making its annual selections, the committee will look at the applicant’s extraordinary character and maturity, leadership, well-rounded experiences including strong academic performance and involvement in curricular and co-curricular activities.

There are typically multiple recipients of these awards. The total amount awarded per recipient may range between $1,000 and $2,000 total and will be applied to the Spring 2023 semester.

Award Criteria

Outstanding Sophomore Award Criteria

  • Must have completed 30-60 UA hours
  • Must have 3.5 or higher cumulative UA GPA
  • Must be enrolled full time as an on-campus student pursuing first bachelor’s degree in the College of Arts and Sciences

Outstanding Junior Award Criteria

  • Must have completed 60-90 UA hours
  • Must have 3.5 or higher cumulative UA GPA
  • Must be enrolled full time as an on-campus student pursuing first bachelor’s degree in the College of Arts and Sciences

Application Requirements

In addition to meeting the qualifications for the award, applicants must submit the following online through the application portal:

  • Essay (350 words) Prompt: Tell us about a UA class or professor that has helped shape your worldview. (include name and CWID on essay)
  • Resume including student name, CWID, email and phone number

Deadline

The deadline to submit an application is Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 12:00 p.m.
