Rising Tide Scholarship

In 2014, the College posed a simple question to students via social media: What would you do if you were Dean for a day?  One A&S student said she would provide critical financial assistance to successful students in need.

Inspired by her response, UA’s College of Arts and Sciences Ambassadors conducted a two-week campaign to promote the inaugural Rising Tide Scholarship, which provides a helping hand to students facing a variety of obstacles or challenges.  The first campaign included on-campus events and donation centers, including kick-off events at the Ferguson Center, promotions on social media, and spirit nights at restaurants throughout Tuscaloosa.

The Rising Tide Scholarship was fully endowed in February 2017.

Current Campaign

The fundraising effort this year for the Rising Tide Scholarship will see two phases:

Phase 1

Starting Monday, September 10, for every $5 donation given to the Rising Tide Scholarship endowment, donors are entered for a chance to win two sky-box tickets for the Louisiana-Lafayette game.  All donations can be given through the UA giving website or taken to the Student Services Center on the 2nd Floor of Clark Hall.  The drawing for this prize will take place on Wednesday, September 26.

Phase 2

Starting after the Louisiana-Lafayette game, for every $5 donation given, donors are entered for a chance to win two sideline passes and seats with the Million Dollar Band for the Iron Bowl.  Participants who donated during Phase 1 but did not win the drawing are eligible to win the drawing in Phase 2. All donations can be given through the UA giving website or taken to the Student Services Center on the 2nd Floor of Clark Hall.  The drawing for this prize will take place on Friday, November 16.
