New College in Iceland
New College has a partnership with the Center for Ecological Living and Learning (CELL - see http://www.cellonline.org). CELL offers interdisciplinary sustainability education programs for students who believe that they can make a difference in the world: students who would like to play an active role in creating long-term solutions to problems facing our local and global communities and environment. In partnership with New College, CELL also offers a three-week Iceland Maymester program focusing on a theme of sustainability through community and cultural ecology taking place in one of the most remote, geologically unique, and environmentally friendly countries in the world. During New College and CELL’s Iceland programs, students live in one of the world’s unique eco-villages (see www.solheimar.is). Additionally, CELL’s full-semester programs offer 15 college credits that count toward New College’s Environmental Studies minor. CELL’s programs offer not only an incredible educational adventure, but, more importantly, an opportunity to join a community of learners committed to making our world more sustainable.
