The Department of Geography was recently announced as the recipient of the 2021-2022 Dean’s Diversity Award ($5,000), given to a Department that has demonstrated a commitment to Diversity. Citations for the award included successfully hiring two diversity post doctoral fellows and the recent establishment of the “Department of Geography Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Endowed Support Fund”. The Fund was begun in part to honor Dr. Bobby Wilson, a recently deceased UA African American Professor of Geography. The Dean’s award will be used to help support a series of speakers and events focused on celebrating the scholarship of Dr. Wilson throughout the 2023-2024 academic year.
