Family of Zachary Day Establishes Fund to Support Religious Studies Lecture Series

Charles L. Day, father, and Dr. Nancy R. Campbell, stepmother, of the late Zachary Daniel Day, have given $15,000 to establish a support fund to honor the memory of their son. The Zachary Daniel Day Memorial Support Fund will support lectures in the Department of Religious Studies that address topics related to image, myth, and theory in popular culture. Professor Monica Miller of Lehigh University will be the inaugural speaker this fall. Her research focuses on the study of religion, popular culture, youth subcultures, and various dimensions of material culture.

Zachary Day, a 2008 UA alumnus who majored in religious studies and minored in anthropology, was a 2007 Silverstein Scholar in the Department of Religious Studies and was a part of the Parker-Adams living-learning community in the College of Arts and Sciences. He died unexpectedly in 2011.
